How many computers can I use? +
A single perpetual licence allows use on one computer at a time. You can move the activation between enabled Host Computer and iLok USB locations through iLok License Manager.
Which installer should I choose for my Mac? +
Apple Silicon with macOS 14 or later: choose Silicon. Apple Silicon with macOS 12.7 or 13.x: choose Silicon Legacy. Apple Silicon running your DAW under Rosetta 2: choose Rosetta. Intel Mac: choose Intel.
Is processing slower on Intel than on Apple Silicon? +
Yes. On Intel Macs, the AI engine runs on CPU only, without GPU acceleration, so all processing is noticeably slower than on Apple Silicon, whichever profile is used. Apple Silicon, particularly M2 and later, is recommended for the best performance.
What are the system requirements? +
Minimum: macOS 12+ on Intel, or 12.7+ for native Apple Silicon with the Legacy installer; 8 GB RAM; 10 GB free during installation (about 3.3 GB installed); Pro Tools 2022.x, a VST3-compatible host, or Standalone. Recommended: macOS 14+, Apple Silicon M2+, 16 GB RAM, with additional space for working files.
Does it require an internet connection? +
Audio processing runs locally and your audio is not uploaded. Internet may be required for licence activation or validation.
Why is the first processing run slow? +
On first launch after installation, the AI engine initialises its model, which takes longer than usual. Subsequent processing runs are significantly faster.
Can it separate more than two voices? +
The AI engine is designed and optimised for separating two distinct voices. Beyond two simultaneous voices, results are not guaranteed: separation will be imperfect or unusable depending on content density.
VoxSplit Pro does not appear in the plugin list. What should I do? +
First check that you chose the right installer for your Mac: Apple Silicon, Apple Silicon Legacy, Intel or Rosetta (see the Downloads page). In Pro Tools, VoxSplit Pro is in the AudioSuite menu, not in the inserts. If the installer was the right one, uninstall VoxSplit Pro with VoxSplit Pro Uninstaller, in the Applications folder, then reinstall it and fully relaunch Pro Tools. If it was not, write to us before installing another version. If you see “License Support Update Required”, quit Pro Tools, install the latest iLok License Support from iLok.com, restart your Mac and reopen Pro Tools.
An error appears when I start processing. What should I do? +
First check that the installed version matches your Mac: Apple Silicon, Apple Silicon Legacy, Intel or Rosetta (see the Downloads page). If it does, uninstall VoxSplit Pro with VoxSplit Pro Uninstaller, in the Applications folder, then reinstall it. If it does not, write to us before installing another version. If the error persists after reinstalling, write to us with the message shown.
The source does not load after clicking CAPTURE. +
Make sure an active timeline selection exists in Pro Tools before clicking CAPTURE. The selection must be longer than 1 second. Click CAPTURE again after verifying the selection.
There is no audio in Preview. +
Make sure a source is selected with SELECT in the Timeline Return panel. Then start Pro Tools Preview after clicking SELECT.
The rendered file does not appear in the timeline. +
Make sure a track and time range are selected in Pro Tools before clicking RENDER VOICE A or RENDER VOICE B in the plugin.
Processing is very slow. +
Use the STANDARD profile. PRECISION and RESCUE are slower by design. Verify the machine has sufficient resources (RAM, CPU). Very long selections (over 60 seconds) will take longer to process.
The result contains artefacts. +
Try a different profile. Verify the selection is not too short. On extremely complex content, some artefacts are inherent to current AI technology. Start with STANDARD, then try PRECISION, then RESCUE.

Who makes it

Frédéric Le Louët

Sound editor, supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer.

I have worked in sound for twenty-eight years, in film, television, animation and video games, as a sound editor, supervising sound editor and re-recording mixer. I am a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

VoxSplit Pro started with an editing problem I kept running into, on many different films: two actors speak over each other, and the line cannot stay as it is. ADR is not possible, there is no other usable take, or you want to preserve one actor’s performance.

I also studied computer science, and that is what let me take the step: I set out to build the tool I was missing. Each version is tuned by ear, on real dialogue, the way I would work in an editing room. VoxSplit Pro is made for that precise moment: when a line is good, but another voice runs over it.

What the separation is trained on

The training data includes speech corpora released under open licences. We also use our own recordings to test and improve how VoxSplit Pro sounds.
